Coronado Animal Care Facility
2009
City of Coronado - CA
The proposed animal care facility is a one-story structure with a building footprint of approximately 4,170 square feet. This facility will
replace the former animal care facility for the City of Coronado. The building consists primarily of animal care spaces along with some
administrative areas, an attached garage and technical support and storage spaces. The receiving side of the building includes an
exam room, dog and cat quarantine rooms, holding rooms as well as spaces for food preparation and grooming. The public portion of
the building consists of cat community and dog adoption rooms to allow visitors to view and interact with the animals. The building
site requires sensitivity to city view corridors, fault zones and residential & commercial neighbors. The design involves noise and odor
mitigation required with a specialized use. The Animal Care Facility is being designed to comply with LEED Gold standards. The
design ultimately offers a dynamic civic function within a very unique beach community.
