Otay Recreation Center

The Otay Recreation Center in Chula Vista was designed in a day-long on-site workshop with City staff and interested local community members. Planned to function as a much-needed after school hangout and neighborhood center, the 15,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium, multi-purpose game room and weight training area situated around a courtyard reminiscent of Spanish hacienda planning. The building‘s dramatic geometric forms and vibrant color scheme were a direct result of workshop input and reflect the vitality of the neighborhood.
