Balboa Elementary Career Day 2016

Each year Ric Davy and our team visits 3rd and 4th grade students to discuss a career in Architecture. The students have an opportunity to review our work, look at models, ask questions and learn about the field.

A note from the principal:

"How wonderful it was to see the eyes of our children when scientist, policeman, fireman, teachers, professors, dentists, news reporters, DJ’s, electricians, office officials, navy, nurses,  business owners, construction directors, architects, orthopedic surgeons, environmental planners, college transition directors, exploring directors, and more at Balboa Career Day 2016-2017.  "
Reyna Ruiz and Ric Davy meet with the class.

Inspiring the next generation of Architects!

For the second year in a row, Eric Davy and Melina Aluwi participate in Career Day

We recently participated in Career Day, connecting with local students that are not regularly exposed to professions requiring a college education.  Fourth grade students at the school were asked to write about their "Dream Job".  They wrote about cashiers, hotel maids, housekeepers--jobs that did not require a university or technical education. Career Day was one of the culminating events in a yearlong focus on college preparedness and educational goal setting. They enlisted the help of a wide variety of community professionals, and the Davy team was proud to be involved!

MONARCH SCHOOL SELECTED BY THE PGA TOUR

It was recently announced that the Monarch School  was selected as the PGA Tour National Charity of the Year.  As a result, the non-profit will receive a $30,000 grant and will be featured in a PGA TOUR produced PSA to air during the 2016 season.

The school was created exclusively to educate homeless children, or those most at risk for homelessness in San Diego. Completed in 2013, Davy Architecture and Bycor Construction teamed to renovate a concrete warehouse in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego.
